Seriously, why didn't anyone tell me about these? They're called banana spiders because their bodies are long and yellow. According to my research, they don't bite and aren't the least bit poisonous, but that doesn't endear them to me at all! We went by Wes' mom's house the other night, and of course she had a nice juicy one in her front yard, right next to the walk way. This would have been a time that ignorance is bliss would definately have applied. I didn't see the thing going in, I didn't need it pointed out on the way out. I tried to retreat back into the house, then was reminded that my car was the other direction. It took me three attempts before I could dash past the thing, and even then I was starting to hyperventilate. So far we haven't seen any around our house yet, but then again, I'm not looking.

you had to post a picture, didn't you? you SHOULD have titled that post, "warning: this post contains a large picture of a very creepy spider". thanks for the heebie-jeebies and in advance for the nightmares. please tell me you just found that picture on the web and the hand doesn't belong to someone you know! ::shudder::
That is hideous!!!! AAAAHhhhh!!! I am glad you had your big strong man to protect you from such things. I haven't met a taranchula yet down here, and I am dreading the day......I have spiders. I don't care if they are good for the environment or whatever nonsense they teach you in biology.....
Ok, first sorry I didn't warn. Yes I got the pic off the web, you think I'd get close enough to take my own? And my big strong man though I might actually go up and take a closer look at the thing. I'm sitting there starting to have a panic attack and he wants me to investigate!!
